Earth Mother

The Earth Mother is a motif that appears in many mythologies. Earth Mothers are goddesses of the earth and are typically the mothers many of the other deities in the mythology they feature in, and so are also seen as patronesses of motherhood. This is generally thought of as being because the earth was seen as being the mother from which all life sprang.
