The Dykstraflex is a motion picture camera system named after its developer John Dykstra.

The system used VistaVision motion controlled cameras to allow for

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

7 axis of motion roll, pan, tilt, swing, boom, traverse, track

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Also separate lens focus, motor drive and shutter control.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The new camera system allowed camera movement to be duplicated exactly as many times as needed for a shoot.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Was used in such films as the Star Wars and Star Trek series.

It earned John Dykstra an Academy Award in 1978.
