Dwight Howard


 

Dwight David Howard (born December 12, 1985 in Atlanta, Georgia) is a power forward for the Orlando Magic of the NBA. He played at Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy, one of the best high school basketball programs. After forgoing college, Howard opted into the 2004 NBA Draft and the Magic selected him first overall. In his very short career, Howard has averaged just over 10 points a game and had his season high of 29 points on March 16 against the Los Angeles Clippers. He finished the season averaging 12 points a game and 10.1 rebounds per game, becoming one of the few players (and also the youngest ever) in the NBA to average a double-double. He became the only player to start every game after making the leap from prep to pro.

Howard was selected to play in the 2005 NBA got Milk? Rookie Challenge, and was also unanimously selected to the All-NBA Rookie First Team.
