Dunkeld
Dunkeld (Dłn Chailleann in Scottish Gaelic) is a small town in Strathtay approximately 15 miles north of Perth on the A9 road into the Scottish Highlands and about one mile north of the village of Birnam, made famous by Shakespeare's Macbeth. Dunkeld and Birnam share a railway station, called Dunkeld and Birnam, on the Highland Main Line.
The Battle of Dunkeld
Much of the original town and the Cathedral were destroyed during the Battle of Dunkeld when, in August 1689, The 26th Foot (Cameronian Regiment) successfully fought the Jacobites shortly after their victory at the Battle_of_Killiecrankie.
