Dumka
Dumka is one of the districts of Jharkhand state, India, with Dumka town as the district headquarters. Dumka derives its name from a Persian word ?damin-i-koh?, which means ?skirts (an edge, border or extreme part) of the hills?. The Mughals assigned this name to this and nearby areas on account of presence of hillock|hillocks and undulating terrain.

It has very good colleges and schools. S.P. Coolege leads the pack and offer graduation in social science, pure science, economics, maths and other subjects. It also has a polythechnic and an ITI but unfortunately not a single engineering, medical or dental college. So whosoever is willing to pursue a career in these subjects has to move out of the city.
