Du Pont family
The Du Pont de Nemours family is a wealthy American family. The family rose to prominence due to the founding in 1802 of the DuPont chemical corporation by Eleuthère Irénée du Pont. He and his father, Pierre Samuel du Pont de Nemours, were the first to emigrate from France to the United States. Pierre is credited with founding the Du Pont family dynasty.
