Dragon boat

Dragon Boat (Chinese: 龍舟, 龍船; Simplified Chinese: 龙舟, 龙船, Mandarin Pinyin: lóng zhōu, lóng chuán; Wade-Giles: lung2-chou1, lung2-ch'uan2; Cantonese {{IPA2|ləʊŋ11 tsɐu55}}, {{IPA|/ləʊŋ11 syn11/}}; Jyutping: lung4 zau1, lung4 syun4; Yale: lùhng jāu, lùhng syùhn) is a very long and narrow human powered boat used in the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing, also referred to as dragonboating.

During racing, dragon boats are always rigged with decorative Chinese dragon heads and tails. However this regalia is typically removed at other times, and usually does not appear during training. Dragon boats also carry a large drum aboard, which is mandatory for races, but which may be absent for training.
