Draco Malfoy

Draco Malfoy (born June 5, 1980{{fn|1}}) is a fictional character in J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter books.

Role in the stories

Draco is a bully who is constantly accompanied by two obtuse Slytherins who follow his every order, Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle. He is also constantly fawned over by Pansy Parkinson, a Slytherin girl in his year.

Draco also enjoys making fun of Ron Weasley for his family's poor financial situation.

He holds the position of Seeker in the Slytherin Quidditch team, mainly because of his father's generous donation of seven high-quality Nimbus 2001 brooms. He is Severus Snape's favourite student.

In the fourth book it is quite likely that he made, or designed the "Support Cedric Diggory" badges, as he is the first one to show them to Harry.

Draco and Harry tangle repeatedly throughout the series. In Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Draco joins the Inquisitorial Squad and plays an important part in the discovery of Dumbledore's Army.

Draco Malfoy plays a more important role in Half-Blood Prince. Voldemort orders him to murder Professor Dumbledore, a task at which he ultimately fails (Battle of Hogwarts). Although Harry has always seen Draco as evil, in Prince, Draco is seen crying in fear and despair in the lavatory, sure that his failure to carry out Lord Voldemort's orders will result in the murder of his own family. Draco's ultimate inability to commit murder is evidence that he still retains some innocence, according to Dumbledore. It was also revealed that Draco is actually quite a gifted Occlumens, something Harry Potter has never been and probably never will.
