Double Trouble (TV series)

Double Trouble was an American sitcom that aired on NBC for two short seasons during 1984. It was produced by Embassy Television(Now owned by Sony Pictures Television).

Considered an updating of the "twins in mischief" concept seen in films like The Parent Trap and TV series such as The Patty Duke Show, Double Trouble starred identical twins Jean and Liz Sagal as Kate and Allison Foster, two teenagers living in Des Moines, Iowa, under the watchful eye of their father, Art Foster (played by veteran character actor Donnelly Rhodes). Similarly to both Parent Trap and Patty Duke, most of the show's comedy was generated from the fact that one twin was serious while the other more laid-back and happy-go-lucky. Patricia Richardson also appeared during the show's first season.

The series, which debuted as a limited-run mid-season replacement, generated strong enough ratings to be renewed for a second season. The show was retooled, with the Foster twins relocating to New York City. Rhodes and Richardson were dropped and replaced by Barbara Barrie as the twins' aunt. The revised series failed to find an audience and was soon cancelled.
