Double reed
A double reed is a type of reed which allows various wind instruments to create sound. The term double reed comes from the fact that there are two pieces of cane in a double reed, as opposed to single reeds which literally consist of one piece of cane. The term double reed usually refers to the whole part which one attaches to the end of an instrument; not just the reeds themselves.
