Dollar, Clackmannanshire
Dollar is a small town in Clackmannanshire of Scotland. Dollar town has the Ochil Hills range to the North, with Devon River passing the town on the South side. Dollar is on Highway A91 which runs from stirling to St. Andrews, Fife.

There is a Rumbling Park (The Mill Green) at east end of Dollar. The town Tillicoultry is about five miles to the west of Dollar town. Alva is further west.

Dollar was the home town of Scotish sinologist James Legge, the

translator of The Chinese Classics. The Chinese scholar Wang Tao

lived in Dollar from 1870-1872, he wrote two travel notes about Dollar town in his book "Jottings from Carefree Travel". The noted Esperantist William Auld, twice nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature, lives in Dollar.

Major attraction in Dollar is the five hundred years old Castle Campbell

where Queen Mary of Scotland once lived in 16th century. The walk to the castle is a vigorous ascent through the very picturesque Dollar Glen. There is also a road to the top for the less energetic.

Another famous Dollar "son" was the inventor of the vacuum flask, James Dewar, who was a pupil at the town's famous educational institution, Dollar Academy, which was founded in 1818 by a bequest from a native, Captain John McNabb.
