~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Kabalevsky is regarded as one of the great modern composers of children's music. He helped to set up the Union of Soviet Composers in Moscow and remained one of its leading figures. He was also a prolific composer of piano music and chamber music, many of his piano works have been performed by the likes of Vladimir Horowitz, and are regarded as highly innovative, suffusing influences from jazz structure like that of the latter Nikolai Kapustin and symbolic minimalism along the lines of Alemdar Karamanov's Concerto No. 3 for piano and orchestra. Kabalevsky's Piano Sonata No. 1, Op. 6, is a prime example of his style. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
