Discovery Bay (愉景灣; pinyin yú jǐng wān; Cantonese yue ging wan) is a low-density residential development in Hong Kong, located on the north-eastern coast of Lantau Island. It spans 6.5 square kilometres http://www.dbay.com.hk/linkspages/db_glance.htm on two bays, Tai Pak Bay and Yi Pak Bay. It has a current population of around 14,300 residents (2003 figure) http://www.dbay.com.hk/linkspages/db_glance.htm with a sizable expatriate community with residents coming from over thirty different countries.

The residential development is unique in Hong Kong, in that it is a self-contained community sold on its resort characteristics. Discovery Bay boasts a private beach, several clubs - including golf and marina clubs, and significantly more parks and open space than any other Hong Kong development. Furthermore, unlike many Hong Kong residential developments, pets are allowed in the development. Discovery Bay currently consists of 12 development phases over an area of 658,100 square metres http://www.dbay.com.hk/linkspages/db_glance.htm with properties ranging from garden houses to high rise towers of up to 25 stories. A few more phases are currently either under development or in the planning stages. It is located two kilometres west of Hong Kong Disneyland in Penny's Bay and approximately 16 kilometres west from the nearest point on Hong Kong Island.
