Dielectric
Some practical dielectrics
Good dielectric materials can be solid, liquid or gases. Solid dielectrics are perhaps the most commonly used in electrical engineering and very many solids are very good insulators. Two examples are porcelain and polyethylene. Examples of gas dielectrics are dry air and SF6 (sulphur hexaflouride). Good examples of liquids are distilled water and transformer oil.
