Dewey Redman
Dewey Redman (born May 17, 1931 in Fort Worth, Texas) is a free jazz saxophonist. Redman plays mainly tenor saxophone, though he occasionally doubles on Chinese musette (actually a suona) and on rare occasions plays the clarinet. He is best known for his collaborations with Ornette Coleman (1968-1972) and Keith Jarrett (1971-1976), as well as his membership in the collective Old and New Dreams. Though generally associated with free jazz, Redman's tenor playing is quite melodic and has strong ties to the post-bop mainstream.
