Detroit's rich musical heritage has produced a vast roster of hit makers. Motown Records, founded by Berry Gordy introduced the world to a number of Detroit natives, including R&B artists such as Smokey Robinson, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder and Aaliyah. In addition, rockers such as Bob Seger, Alice Cooper, The Sillies, Jack White of the White Stripes, Electric Six, MC5, Patti Smith, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent include or are also prominent Detroit natives. More recently, rappers such as Eminem and Luis Resto, D12, Esham, MC Breed, the late Blade Icewood, Malik a.k.a. Eddie Kane, G-Rock, Cash Out, Big Herk, The Dayton Family and Insane Clown Posse are among the celebrities who have kept the diverse musical pipeline flowing.
