Post War
Some conventional destroyers were completed in the late 1940's and 1950's which built on wartime experience. These vessels were significantly larger than wartime ships and had fully automatic main guns, unit Machinery, radar, sonar, and anti submarine weapons such as the squid mortar. Examples include the British Daring class destroyer (1949), US Forrest Sherman class destroyer and the Russian Kotlin class (project 56).
