Located on the southern edge of the county it has a population (2001) of 352 and an area of 10.11 square kilometres. The nearest towns are Harleston and Bungay. To the south lies the river Waveney, to the west Alburgh, to the north Topcroft and Beddingham and to the east Earsham.
