Five Star tracks written by Denise (often with a hard-edged rock theme) include "Stay Out of My Life" (Five Star's only self composed top ten hit), "Live Giving Love", "Hard Race", "There's a Brand New World", "Let Me Be Yours" and "What About Me Baby". In 1985 the 17-year-old Denise was nominated for a Grammy Award for her instrumental composition "First Avenue", which was the B-Side of Five Star's first hit "All Fall Down".

Not all her songs are rock themed, some are ballads or uptempo, with tracks such as "Feel Much Better", "I'm Still Waiting", "Tienes Mi Amour", "Come to Me For Love", "The Love You Bring to Me", "Going with the Moment", "Show Me", "Don't Let Me Be the Lonely One", "Funktafied", and "Tell Me What You Want". "Funktafied" is taken from the group's most recent album Eclipse, released 2001.

Denise is still singing, writing, recording with Five star and still playing live shows. Her only non Five Star project to date was in 1997 when she recorded "This Pain", a duet with former Bros frontman Matt Goss.
