It's unknown to some people that this album is actually a concept album. It's about a man who is fed up with the machine controlled government and wants to destroy it. Each song is a chapter in his life.

The song "Dog Day Sunrise" is actually a cover of a Head of David song with the same name

This album originally had two mixes. They were by Monte Conner and the other by Colin Richardson. Because many felt Conner's mix was the best as it captured the electronic elements more than Richardson's mix which was more fixated on the guitars, Richardson's mix was rejected. The mix we hear now is Conner's mix. The Richardson mix of Zero Signal and Body Hammer can be found on the Hatefiles compliation.

Some people consider this album and Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve album to be the best metal albums of 1995.
