Trivia

• Although the film follows closely to the novel, some part is different for example character description of Ed (in the novel Ed was about bald and in his late 40's) and the missing of an introduction (explaining why they decided to go canoe trip instead of playing golf) and an epilogue after the tragedy.
• In the Irish/British comedy series Father Ted, they did a tribute to the dueling banjo scene (except this time they were using guitar and the setting is in Ireland).
• The PC game Redneck Rampage is a tribute to Deliverance, complete with a banjo-playing alien.
