Defiance is a city located in Defiance County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 16,465. It is the county seat of Defiance County{{GR|6}}. The city was the location of Fort Defiance, built by General "Mad" Anthony Wayne in August 1794 at the confluence of the Auglaize and Maumee rivers.
