Debridement
Debridement is a surgical term referring to the surgical removal of infected or otherwise non-viable tissue to improve the healing potential of the remaining healthy tissue.

In Oral hygiene, debridement refers to the removal of the tartar that has accumulated over teeth. Debridement in this case is done using hand tools and Ultrasound instrument. The ultrasound dislodges the tartar which is then removed.
