Debrecen (approximate pronunciation: "deh-breh-tsen", Debre?in in Romanian, Debrec?n in Slovak, Debreczyn in Polish) is the second largest city in Hungary after Budapest. Debrecen is the regional centre of the Northern Great Plain region and the capital of Hajd?-Bihar county.

Debrecen is located on the Great Hungarian Plain (Alf?ld in Hungarian), 220 km east of Budapest. Situated nearby is the Hortob?gy, a national park within Hungarian Puszta famous for its wildlife and traditional agriculture.
