David Soyer

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ He was born in Philadelphia and began playing the piano at the age of 9. At 11, he started the cello, studying with various teachers, including Pablo Casals. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Chamber music has been a special love of his, and he has played with the Guarneri Quartet since 1964. He debuted with the Philadelphia Orchestra under Eugene Ormandy in 1942, playing Bloch's Schlomo. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Soyer is on the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music, the Manhattan School of Music, and the University of Maryland, College Park. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
