David Gergen


 

David Gergen is a political consultant and presidential advisor during the Republican administrations of Nixon, Ford, and Reagan. While remaining a Republican he also served as an advisor to Bill Clinton. Gergen's brother Ken Gergen is a notable psychologist and professor at Swarthmore College.

He earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University in 1963 and his law degree from Harvard University in 1967.

As of 2005 he serves as editor-at-large at U.S. News & World Report and a professor of public service and director of the Center for Public Leadership at the Kennedy School of Government. A native of Durham, North Carolina, Gergen has also taught at Duke University, where he is now a Trustee.
