David Bates is a groundsman and former professional cricketer.

Born in Keighley, West Yorkshire, Bates played for Yorkshire County Cricket Club before becoming the head groundsman at Harrogate Cricket Club. He then proceeded to do the same job for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club and was the chairman of the First Class Groundsman.
