Dave Beasant

Dave Beasant, born 1959, was an English footballer who began his career as a goalkeeper in the late 1970's. He became the first goalkeeper to save a penalty in an F.A Cup final when he blocked John Aldridge's spot-kick in 1988, and helped Wimbledon overcome Liverpool to win the competition against all odds. A brief spell at Newcastle followed. Until his retirement in 2004, at the age of 45, Beasant turned out for Chelsea, Southampton, Portsmouth and Brighton.
