The reason for Bradley Nowell writing this Song was that he was pulled over for drunk driving. As a result the judge told him that as part of his community service he must create song that would be on his next album about the consequences for an illegal action. The result is a song that depicts an episode in the life of a female protagonist during which she is the victim of a date rape.

Humorous in tone, the song ends with the victimizer being sent to prison and being raped by a larger inmate. It can therefore be seen as a cautionary anti-rape anthem.
