Darwin Ortiz

Darwin Ortiz (born 1948) is an authority on gambling and card manipulation.

Ortiz was born and raised in New York City where he had a keen interest in card tricks since he was a child. In 1974, he dropped out of NYU Law School and pursued card magic full-time. During that time, he supported himself through gambling at cards and dice.

Ortiz later became a consultant to a number of casinos. He is the author of many books on gambling and magic, the most recent one being Scams and Fantasies With Playing Cards. One of his books, Strong Magic, is considered a classic work for magicians of all kinds and offers deep insight into presentational technique.
