Background
"Think back to every story of alien visitors, psychic powers, occult lore, unexplained miracles, strange cults, and secret societies that you've ever heard... then imagine if they were all true, and your job was to investigate them." This is the hook Wizards of the Coast used to interest people in this campaign setting for the Alternity role playing game rules. It gives a good overview of the setting.

The basic premise of the campaign is that the player's characters are working for a clandestine organization called the Hoffmann Institute. While working for the institute they investigate hidden mysteries while avoiding human and alien forces determined to keep the information from them. During their adventures they expose the worlds corruption for all to see while encountering devious organizations working towards world domination, finding creatures from our nightmares lurking around dark corners, and mysterious aliens manipulating our world's governments.
