Located at , just 20 km away from Munich, it has become a popular housing area for people working in Munich, and now has roughly 40,000 inhabitants. The town has a historic city center, with a castle built in the 18th century. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Dachau was founded in the 8th century, and was the home of many artists during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
