Crossover dribble

A crossover dribble is a maneuver in the game of basketball, yet commonly used in streetball when a player switches from dribbling with the left hand to the right hand and vice versa. A common scenario in which this technique is used in a game is when the player heads upcourt, dribbling the ball in the left hand, then makes a wide step left with a good head fake. If the defender is deceived, the player switches to dribbling with his right hand and explodes. The maneuver is best employed near the top of the arch so the player can be free of the defender and be able to take the jumper or go to the basket. Point guards employ this technique the most.

There are two types of the crossover: the normal, and the killer.

  • Normal Crossover: A normal crossover is a direction fake while switching the ball between your hands.
  • Killer Crossover: The most widely known and embarrassing streetball maneuver when a person does a normal crossover, but instead of a normal fake, the person performing the crossover blows by the person they were defended against, sometimes causing the defender to lose his balance, and fall to the floor on his rear. The Killer Crossover is notorious in the streetball world and the And 1 MixTape Tour, where after the defender who falls victim to being "crossed out" as it is called and falls to the floor must leave the game, as a sign of being a weak player who cannot handle the street mentality of the game.
  • Allen Iverson and Tim Hardaway are widely acclaimed at being the best at this move.
