Crimpshrine grew out of the East Bay scene centered around 924 Gilman Street, and were an important infuence on later East Bay bands such as Green Day and pop-punk in general. Their incredible touring ethic, which often consisted of playing with used equipment and hitching rides from city to city, made many people look up to them and their D.I.Y. approach.

The cover of their EP Quit Talkin' Claude features a drawing of some punks leaning against a concrete structure. This structure, called "clob" was located in a swampy area of Benicia, California. "Claude" was supposedly a young punk colleague of the band who talked "a lot of shit."
