Crimean Tatars


 

The Crimean Tatars (Q?r?mtatar aka Q?r?mtürk, Pl. Q?r?mtatarlar aka Q?r?mtürkler?) are a Turkic ethnic group originally residing in the Crimean peninsula. They are descendants of Tatars who moved west with the Mongols and other Turkic groups (Khazars, Petchenegs, and Kipchaks) who had settled in eastern Europe as early as the 7th century.. They speak the Crimean Tatar language.
