Cotswold Rail


 

Cotswold Rail is a spot-hire company of shunting and mainline locomotives, based in Moreton-in-Marsh, Gloucestershire. It owns a fleet of Class 08 shunting locomotives, which are hired to both industry and main-line railway companies. It is also has a growing fleet of Class 47 locomotives, which are hired to One Railway, following on from its predecessor Anglia Railways. They are also hired for passenger charter trains. Cotswold Rail's livery consist of silver, with red and blue bands. It has a policy of naming it locomotives after Cotswolds features, such as Cam Peak and the Fosse Way.

In April 2005, Cotswold Rail acquired its first Class 87 electric locomotives. An eventual fleet of ten locomotives is envisaged for spot-hire work, charter operations and a new intermodal freight flow.

Cotswold Rail acquired two High Speed Train sets in September 2005, including four Class 43 power cars. The trains were previously in use with Virgin Trains on summer holidays services from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to Newquay.
