Corvallis, Oregon
Corvallis is a city located in Benton County in central western Oregon. Originally called Marysville, probably for the nearby Mary's River, the legislative assembly changed the city's name to Corvallis in 1853, from the Latin phrase cor vallis, meaning "heart of the valley." As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 49,322. It is the county seat of Benton County{{GR|6}}.

Located in Corvallis are Oregon State University, located quite close to the main downtown area, and a large Hewlett-Packard printer cartridge manufacturing and prototyping facility which is a major local employer. A number of residents also commute to work in Albany.
