Coraopolis, Pennsylvania
Coraopolis (pronounced CORE-?-OP-?-LIS) is a borough located in Allegheny County in the US state of Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the borough had a total population of 6,131, down a substantial amount from 11,086 in 1940. The loss of occupations created by the exodus of the steel-making companies from the Pittsburgh region to Europe and Asia is a factor which has caused the population to dwindle. It is a small town located to the west of Pittsburgh, along the Ohio River. The town is noted for its steep topography, numerous brick streets, and many large, old, and exquisite homes.
