It published a newspaper called Volksstimme (now Volksstimmen) and stands in elections. It lost representation in the federal parliament in 1959. After also losing its last representation in a state parliament (in Styria in 1970), it became a fringe movement of limited significance. At the National Council elections held on November 22, 2002, it won only 0.56% of the votes (27,568 of a total of 4,909,645 valid votes). This result was far from the limit of 4% that must be surpassed to obtain seats in the National Council. However, in 2003 it received a very exceptional 20% of the vote in local elections in Graz, and in 2005 it returned to its first state parliament in 35 years when it won 6.3% of the vote in Styria.
