Extracurricular activities
The students of Columbia participate in a great variety of activities, everything ranging from sports to academic clubs to political organizations on campus. The largest club (the most members) is the school's Martin Luther King Association (MLKA).

Sports at Columbia are very popular. Columbia participates in the Group IV division of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA). Many of the teams are very successful on the local, state, and national level.

The school's Fencing team is one of largest in the nation, having over 100 freshmen join the team in the last year alone. The boys team is consistantly ranked among the top in the state, while the girls team has won the state championship for several years running.

The girl's track and field team is also notable for its success. Most recently, the girl's team won the New Jersey girl's indoor track relays in the winter of 2005.

The boy's soccer team is also always very competetive in the state. It is coached by the legendary Gene Chyzowych, who has won more high school soccer games than any other high school coach in the nation.

The girl's basketball team is perennially successful. They regularly contend for the New Jersey state championship.
