Columbia High School is notable for its academic gothic architecture. At the center of the school is its looming clock tower, visible for miles around. The oldest part of the interior is notable for its artistic tiling that was recently renovated.

Because of the density of the surrounding neighborhoods, most of Columbia's athlethic fields are dispersed around South Orange and Maplewood. This includes the football field, track, and soccer fields.
