Color Field
Color Field is an art movement which began in the 1960s and is characterized by canvases painted entirely by large areas of solid color.

Color Field is related to Suprematism, and Abstract Expressionism. Color Field painting sought to rid art of references to nature, and any recognizable references to past or present art. In pursing the direction of modern art, the artists wanted to present each painting as one big, cohesive, monolithic image.
