~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Coldstone appears initially as a villain in the series, the episode Reawakening introduces him as Goliath?s rookery brother turned bitter and confused after a thousand years of oblivion and the cunning lies of Demona. Goliath initially sees Coldstone as an abomination, but soon sees past the horror of his appearance to the family ties that lay beneath. At the end of the episode, Coldstone seemingly sacrifices himself to save his brother, falling into the cold depths of the Hudson River. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ This character appears in nine episodes in the series, but the most interesting aspect of lies with Coldstone?s split personality, introduced in the episode called Legion. He is a vehicle that brings to the series yet another adaptation of William Shakespeare?s plays: Othello. The three personalities that dwell in Coldstone?s body are Goliath?s brother (which the cyborg looks like), his mate Desdemona, and a true villain called Iago. The three struggle for control of the body, Iago using his velvety voice for trickery and deception, much like Shakespeare?s character. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In the third season episode Possession, the fate of Coldstone?s personalities is sealed. Through the intervention of Puck and the young Alexander Xanatos, Desdemona and Iago are transferred into two separate robotic bodies, called Coldfire and Coldsteel respectively, leaving Coldstone alone at last. The last we see of them in the series has Coldstone and Coldfire leaving Goliath?s clan to hunt down their evil brother to finally put an end to his treachery. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
