Cobra unit
The Cobra unit, also called the Cobras, is a fictional special forces unit in the video game '.

The unit was formed by The Boss in 1942 to combat the Axis Powers. It was created using the resources of the US, Soviet Union and China, under The Philosophers. It consisted of the best soldiers from the Allied nations. The Cobra unit took part in a number of important missions throughout the war, including the D-Day invasion of Normandy. They are credited with leading the Allies to victory.

The unit consisted of six members:

- The Joy (The Boss)
- The Sorrow
- The Pain
- The Fury
- The Fear
- The End
The Boss disbanded the unit in 1947 and she and the other members seemingly went their separate ways and returned to their respective countries.

In 1962, The Boss was forced to kill The Sorrow when she was sent on a mission to Tselinoyarsk. Despite their having been in love, she killed him for the sake of her mission. The Sorrow understood this, and encouraged her to 'complete her mission'.

In 1964, after apparently defecting to the Soviet Union, The Boss reassembled the remaining Cobras. Naked Snake eventually defeated each of them in single combat during the course of operation Snake Eater, and with the final loss of their leader, the group ceased to exist.
