Clwyd
Clwyd is a preserved county of Wales, formed from the traditional counties of Denbighshire and Flintshire, and parts of Merionethshire. From 1974 until 1996, it was a administrative county, with a county council, and was divided into six districts: ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

For administrative purposes, Clwyd was split in 1996 into the unitary authorities of Flintshire, Denbighshire, and parts of Conwy and Powys. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ In 2003, the preserved county of Clwyd was changed to cover the remainder of Conwy (which had previously been part of Gwynedd). ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
