Claire Littleton

Claire Littleton is a character on Lost, an ABC adventure series written and produced by J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof. Claire is the only Australian character on the show, and was late in pregnancy through most of the first season.

Biography

Claire became pregnant out of wedlock, and intended to give the child up for adoption after the baby's father walked out on her after her first trimester. Her plans to give the baby up were foiled by her own guilt but also by a psychic who kept hounding Claire about her child, telling her she must raise the child herself "or else." When she refused to listen to his insistent demands, the psychic appeared to recant and told her he found a couple in Los Angeles for the baby, and even arranged the flight for her. After the crash, Claire believed that she may have been set up, that the psychic knew of the airplane's disaster.

In Australia, Claire had an unspecified job at "Fish 'n' Fry", presumably a fast food chain.

Despite being friendly, Claire is usually avoided and ignored by the other castaways because of her pregnant condition. Only Charlie has approached Claire frequently, and the two have become very deep friends with romance a possibility.

She was kidnapped by Ethan Rom, but wandered back to the castaways two weeks later, still pregnant but with no memory of anything after the crash.

She gave birth to a baby boy, later named Aaron, in the middle of the jungle. Kate had to deliver the baby, because Jack was in the middle of trying to save Boone's life while Jin and Charlie looked on. Claire has trouble trusting others with her baby because of the warnings that the psychic had given her about the baby as being special. Yet Charlie continues to remain ever-present to help Claire with her baby when she needs it. He has discovered that Saywer's voice will soothe the crying newborn.

Claire is always seen wearing a necklace with the Chinese character 愛 (ai) which means "love".

It seems that Claire is beginning to get her memory back. After Danielle asked to hold her baby, she sees scratches on Danielle's arm and had a flashback of when she was attacked.
