City Racing
City Racing was a not-for-profit art gallery run in a former betting shop premises in Kennington, (near the Oval cricket ground), South London between 1988 and 1998. The space was run as a cooperative by five artists Matt Hale,Paul Noble, John Burgess, Keith Coventry and Peter Owen. City Racing became an important and famous exhibition space and its exhibition openings became a social networking opportunity for many artists.

Artist who had early exhibitions at City Racing include Sarah Lucas, Fiona Banner, Lucy Gunning, Ceal Floyer and Gillian Wearing. In 1993 the space received partial funding from the London Arts Board.City Racing was closed after ten years. A retrospective book was later published by Black Dog, called City Racing, The Life and Times of an artist Run Gallery.
