Chris formed a trio with younger Isley brothers Ernie and Marvin in the late-1960s before the group joined the older Isleys in 1969. In 1973, Jasper became an official member of the Isley Brothers along with the younger Isley brothers and between 1973 and 1983 took part in some of the band's most seminal songs with his trademark and legendary keyboard and synthesizer work on songs like "For the Love of You", "Make Me Say it Again, Girl", "Footsteps in the Dark", and "Between the Sheets".

In 1984, he and the younger half of the Isleys split from the older brothers and formed Isley-Jasper-Isley before that band broke up in 1987. Since then, Jasper has carried on with his solo career eventually singing gospel music and occasionally R&B. But his work with the Isley Brothers will be forever remembered especially by hip-hop fans who hear his keyboard work on rap singles like "Today was a Good Day" (Ice Cube) and "Big Poppa" (The Notorious B.I.G.) He was inducted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 with the rest of the Isley Brothers.
