Child of God

Child of God is a novel by American novelist Cormac McCarthy. Set in East Tennessee, it tells the story of Lester Ballard, a dispossessed, violent man falsely accused of rape, and his post-sentence descent into various forms of depravity (including murder and necrophilia). Like a lot of McCarthy's novels, it deals with extreme violence with characteristic lyrical brillance.
