Chickenhawk (sexuality)

Chickenhawk or chicken hawk (also called chicken hunter, chicken queen or coke-roller) is a gay slang expression primarily used to refer to an older gay man who engages in, or seeks to engage in, acts of pederasty. As in vulgar slang a "chicken" is a young boy and the hawk a bird of prey, a "chickenhawk" is a grown man whose lust peculiarities are shared soley with young boys.

According to Robert Scott's Gay Slang Dictionary (1989, 2001), there are four definitions:

• Paedophile one with a sexual attraction, and need for young boys, under the age of consent.
• an adult homosexual who has a sexual attraction to teenage boys or young men.
• a sexual molester of children.
• a man in his forties who goes for young men eighteen to twenty-four.

Sometimes a person who combs bus stations looking for runaways to "turn out" as child prostitutes is also called a chickenhawk.
